s w i f t s is a literary magazine edited by Jeremy Michael Reed.
You may submit up to five pieces of creative work regardless of genre. Like our namesake, the journal prioritizes pieces that are adept in multiple ways at the same time: speed and strength, quick movements and longevity of flight, drag and thrust.
We welcome simultaneous submissions, but please notify us when your work is accepted by another publisher. If you are submitting translations, please include the original language version and proof that you have permission to translate the work. If you are incorporating work you did not create yourself into your piece, please acknowledge it in your cover letter and provide any proof of permission if necessary. For all submissions, please include a third-person bio that we can use if we decide to publish your work. We publish issues four times per year, and we aim to respond to all submissions within one month.
Rights revert back to the author after publication, though we do ask for an acknowledgment when the work later appears elsewhere and we maintain non-exclusive anthology rights. We nominate for Best of the Net, Pushcart Prizes, Best American anthologies, The O’Henry Prize, Best Literary Translations, Best Microfictions, and other awards as applicable. If there’s a place we should be nominating work we aren’t already, please let us know.
To contact the editors or submit your writing, please email swiftslitmag@gmail.com. We look forward to reading your work.
